SamTrans, a public transportation agency in the San Francisco Bay Area, received the Outstanding Public Transportation System Achievement award from the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) for its superior efficiency and effectiveness.
With more than 10 million passenger trips per fiscal year, SamTrans earned the award in the category for agencies with between 3 million and 15 million annual rides.
Additionally, SamTrans has equipped its El Camino Real (ECR) route with EMTRAC technology to enhance efficiency and reliability. The EMTRAC Priority Management System allows buses to request priority at traffic signals, reducing delays and improving performance. As a result, the integration of EMTRAC led to significant improvements in bus performance on Route ECR, elevating its ranking to 9th out of 75 SamTrans lines
